Baltic action week

During the annual Baltic Action Week, the ITF inspectors checked 23 ships of different flags in Szczecin and Swinoujscie. Only in one unit under the flag of the Bahamas the shipowner did not sign a collective agreement with the sailors.

After the intervention, the agreement was signed. It could take place thanks to the cooperation of sailors and dockers trade unions in the Baltic Sea countries. The inspections involve employment conditions and salaries for teams working on ships calling at Baltic ports. With much satisfaction, it can be said that working conditions for sailors are getting better every year. A majority of teams are employed based on collective agreements accepted by sailors and dockers trade unions. The ITF inspectors are checking ships during the whole year and the good results of the Baltic Action Week can be attributed of those visits.
