Transport Logistic 2009 in Munich |
|
On 12-15 May, Transport Logistic 2009, in many years the main European fair in the TSL sector was held in Munich. Munich is the venue for meeting everyone who plays an important role in the world transport.
This year’s event was not difference. The fair attracted 1760 exhibitors from 55 countries. The largest number of attendees represented logistic companies, then IT and telecommunication sector, and the third group of about 200 businesses included air transport companies, ports and companies cooperating with them. The capital of Bavaria also attracted representatives of national and private railway companies.
Our company presented to potential clients interesting logistic and investment opportunities. At the stand of the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority, presented were Bulk Cargo Port Szczecin, PCC Port Szczecin, Commercial Port Swinoujscie and Ferry Terminal Swinoujscie.
During meetings with companies representing the TSL sector, operators and ports, discussions focused on possibilities of intensifying trade contacts and the use of transit potential of the two ports. Already today, the two ports attract over 80% of dry cargo going through Polish seaports. Modernising of S3 to the dual carriage road standard and modernising E 59 and CE 59 railway lines are of key importance in developing contacts between ports and their customers. In the opinion of many companies, the two investment projects combined with a ferry terminal in Swinoujscie provide huge opportunity for developing cargo handling between north and south of Europe and creating new logistic routes. Discussions were also held with companies which expressed their interest in investing in the ports.
Considering that many ports in Europe complain at shortage of land for development, our ports extend their investment offer including attractive land designated for lease at very good rates.
It has been estimated that the Munich fair attracted about 48 thousand visitors. We hope that the number of visitors will translate, at least partially, into growing interest in and will to cooperate with our ports.
