Jaroslaw Siergiej, CEO for The Szczecin And Swinoujscie Seaports Authority meets Radoslaw Sikorski Print

JAROSŁAW SIERGIEJ, CEO FOR THE SZCZECIN AND ŚWINOUJŚCIE SEAPORTS AUTHORITY MEETS RADOSŁAW SIKORSKI, THE POLISH MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

On 14th March 2010, Jarosław Siergiej, the CEO of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, met Radosław Sikorski, the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the premises of the Ports Authority. During the meeting, J. Siergiej discussed with the Minister measures implemented by the Ports Authority aimed at negotiating with Nord Stream a favourable routing of the gas pipeline on the Baltic Sea bottom at the cross roads of navigation routes leading to Polish ports.
The CEO provided details about talks held with Nord Stream in Berlin, which led to a major success, since a declaration was made that on the western approach 20km stretch of the pipeline would be dredged into the sea bottom. The meeting also led to a significant concession concerning the northern approach as representatives of the consortium undertook to shift the pipeline towards a deeper area.
This solution, however, does not fully reflect Ports Authority’s expectations as regards navigability for ships with draught in excess of 13.5 m. Talks with Nord Stream continue and representatives of the consortium undertook to present a detailed report on precise depths at the cross roads of the routes.
