The Port has started building the LNG facility Print

On 30th April this year, at the premises of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, a contract was signed between the Ports Authority and a consortium of companies based in Szczecin. The consortium comprises EKO-INWEST and PROMIS, and was established to provide the service of a contract engineer following rules of FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) for the project of ‘Building a berth in the external port of Świnoujście’. The value of the contract is PLN 2.989 thou (gross).
The contract also provides for management and supervision of the project in collaboration with the Ports Authority.

It is the first contract signed for the project of building an LNG terminal for re-gasification of liquefied natural gas in Świnoujście. The project is implemented jointly by four partners: Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, Maritime Office of Szczecin, Polish LNG and GAZ – SYSTEM, a gas network operator.

Building works are expected to start in July this year to be completed in November 2012. The first methane carrier under the ‘Qatar Contract’ is expected to call at Świnoujście after building a land-based part of the LNG terminal in 2014.
