On 28th October 2010, at the Chorzowskie Quay, the Szczecin Seaport held exercise aimed at testing the efficiency of port security and cooperation between services counteracting and combating threats in the port.

The exercise included simulation of a terrorist attack on m/s ‘Ziemia Gnieźnieńska’ moored at the quay, and a spill of hazardous substances to port basins. Port services tested their alarm systems which are particularly important in case of real threats to vessels in the port. Firemen from the Port Fire Service set up a barrier protecting the spill from spreading. The exercise proved the efficiency of the port protection system, communication system and good cooperation between services involved.
