On 21st April 2011, in the headquarters of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, a consortium agreement on establishing the Westpomerania Maritime Cluster was officially signed. Founding members include 9 companies and 5 additional companies expressed their support to the initiative.

The cluster is an open organisation expecting to increase its membership significantly.
The idea of the cluster is to integrate companies operating and frequently competing on the same or similar markets, however in specific contexts they may act together within an integrated and strong cluster.
The cluster may not only be an excellent forum for presenting opinions and exchange of ideas, but also provide an expert support for the decision making process in the maritime sector.
The mission of the Westpomerania Maritime Cluster is to build strong links and promoting a new image of an integrated and innovative maritime business community by harmonising activities aimed at strengthening the international competitive position of maritime companies based in the region.
- We do not intend to build a highly formalised bureaucratic structure, appoint chairmen, directors, and print business cards. Our advantage is the power of mutual relations and common goals, joint activity, and implementation of common tasks, - said Jarosław Siergiej, CEO at the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority.
