The Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority joined SoNorA (South – North Axis), a new project which continues the Adriatic-Baltic Landbridge project ended in April 2008.
SoNorA involves 25 partners from 6 countries, including Austria, Czech
Republic, Germany, Poland, Slovenia and Italy. The lead partner,
responsible for running the project and its results, is the Region of
Veneto, Italy, which was also a project promoted for AB Landbridge.
SoNorA results from a discussion on expediting the development of
intermodal transport infrastructure and services in Central Europe
linking the Baltic and the Adriatic. Plans include developing strategic
cooperation in selected trans-European transport corridors, creating an
international platform for cooperation with experts and ministries in
countries involved, and formulating recommendations for further
development of TEN-T.
SoNorA project partners will work jointly towards ensuring better
accessibility for their regions and benefits related to it, and
consequently accelerating economic development and creating a strong
economic zone in Central Europe.
SoNorA aims at developing a joint strategy for developing multimodal
transport infrastructure linking regions in south and north of Central
Europe. Based on the objectives, the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports
Authority, together with the CETC Technical Secretariat (reporting to
the Marshal’s Office of Zachodniopomorskie Region, Poland), will
contribute to accelerated growth and promote the Central European
Transport Corridor.
Total project budget: MEUR7.100
