Adriatic - Baltic Landbridge

in May 2006 this project received financing from the Commonwealth Initiative INTERREG III B CADSES. 23 partners from Central and Eastern Europe and expressed a desire to participate in this project. The duration of the project is 1.5 years (2006 - 2007). Assumed amount of the budget is 2.5 million EUR.

The strategic aim of the project is demonstrating that multimodal land connections between the northern sea coast of the Adriatic and the southern region of the Baltic, with the utilization of ports from these regions, are the shortest and most economically sound routes for cargo heading from the Middle and Far East to Northern Europe, especially Scandinavia. This will happen by assembling and working out data concerning the current north-south routes and the preparation of scenarios of transport development to 2020.
