Water protection: - sewage
The Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority has 35 discharge points for rainwater, and household and Additionally, analytical research on the quality of sewage channelled to the port wet dock is conducted. The research is performed in accordance with permissions issued by Research on Work Environment Laboratory. - cleaning basins The Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority systematically ensures the quality of basins in the ports of Szczecin and Swinoujscie. Port basins are treated from solid elements and petroleum-based products several times a week. For that purpose appropriate contracts have been concluded with entities providing such services. - monitoring of the quality of port basins waters Twice a year a research on the quality of port basins waters is conducted by Research on Work Environment Laboratory, the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority, in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation of the Minister of Environment on requirements concerning measurement of substances or energy by the administrator of road, railway, tram connections and air and sea ports [Journal of Laws no 192 item 1392 of 2007]. Air protection: In order to reduce emissions of air pollution, the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority introduced the program of modernization of boiler room substituting so far used solid fuel by light oil or natural gas. In 2003 the company won an award in “Environmentally Friendly” ecological competition in the category of "Environmentally friendly company". Sewage management: Tenants of port areas bear responsibility for sewage management under rules and obligations defined in contracts concluded with the Authority of Szczecin and Swinoujscie Sea Ports. Preventing threats on the sea: Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Finance of 3rd December 2002 on organization and manner of combating threats and pollution in the sea [Journal of Laws No 239 item 2026 of 2002] the Authority of Szczecin and Swinoujscie Sea Ports elaborated a "Plan of combating threats and pollution of port waters environment in Szczecin and Swinoujscie". The plan refers to port infrastructure including various areas and basins. The Port Rescue Service is a unit responsible for combating threats and contamination of port waters.

industrial sewage. Sanitary sewage from the area of port in Swinoujscie is channelled to the municipal sewage treatment plant in Swinoujscie. Sanitary sewage from the majority of the area of the port in Szczecin is channelled to the sewage treatment plant in Ostrów Grabowski. This sewage plant is exploited by "Międzyodrze" Water Partnership. The Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority intends to conclude the investment of channelling sanitary sewage of Katowice area to the sewage plant.
