A building permit for the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority

A BUILDING PERMIT FOR THE SZCZECIN AND ŚWINOUJŚCIE SEAPORTS AUTHORITY

On 15th January 2010, Marcin Zydorowicz, the Governor of Zachodniopomorskie Region, approved the technical design of a berth in the External Port of Świnoujście and issued a building permit for the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority.
It is a very important moment for the investor and all stakeholders, authorities and companies involved in developing of the External Port, where the LNG terminal is going to be built.

Before that, on 12th February 2009, the Environmental Impact Assessment was developed and four months later on 18th June 2009 the Regional Environmental Directorate issued an environmental permit stating that the terminal does not pose any threat to the environment during its building and operation.
Very soon a public procurement will start to select the Contract Engineer. The Engineer is responsible for supervising and coordinating building process and interaction with stakeholders, including the Maritime Office and Polskie LNG.
In December last year, the deadline expired for filing prequalification applications for ‘The Building of the LNG Berth in the External Port of Świnoujście’.
Eight applications were filed by companies and consortia which comprise domestic and foreign companies. The Procurement Committee is finalising the assessment of documents submitted and soon will invite qualified partners to the second stage of the procedure.
The contractor is going to the selected early April, and the building process should start in July this year. Building should be completed on 30th June 2012 and the first ship is expected to berth at the LNG terminal in Świnoujście in 2014.
