Deepwater container terminal in Świnoujście. The new version of the competition

The Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority has announced another procedure, which is ultimately to appoint a contractor for the project of a deepwater container terminal in the outer port of Świnoujście. The three-stage process is to be completed with the signing of the contract by the end of 2022. In line with the concept, the deepwater container terminal is to be built within the boundaries of the external port, but mainly in the area intended for landing.

Until September 30, applications from interested parties will be accepted, which will then be formally verified. In the second stage, the Commission will indicate the participants of further proceedings. It will also collect inquiries from potential contractors regarding the design, documentation, contract terms, to answer them, clarify doubts, etc. This stage will end with the preparation and submission of bids. The cut-off date is February 28, 2022. The bids will be opened the next day.

The third and last stage of the procedure are negotiations of the Commission aimed at specifying the content of the contracts. The result is to sign fully negotiated documents with the future contractor of the deepwater container terminal project in Świnoujście. This is to happen by the end of 2022.

- The deepwater container terminal in Świnoujście sets the direction of our strategic activities for this decade, it is also a project with government support, included in the Polish Order, a program by which Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki sets the directions for the development of the entire country - emphasizes Krzysztof Urbaś, President of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority. We are opening another multi-stage procedure to select a contractor and implement this project. The interest in the terminal has been and is, and we are richer with the experience of previous proceedings. We carefully listened to the signals coming from the entire port industry and shipping companies. We coldly analyzed the surroundings, the pandemic situation, etc.

The President ensures that the terminal in Świnoujście, in the south-western part of the Baltic Sea, is needed and economically justified. It points to market research, expert analyzes, forecasts based on hard statistical data indicating constant growth trends in ocean container transport, etc. they justified. Local government officials headed by the president of Świnoujście, Janusz Żmurkiewicz, also pointed to the benefits of building a container terminal for the local community and the region.

- With all this experience and no less determination as before, we started the next stage of the procedure fully convinced that we would be able to select a partner to implement the project - emphasizes the president of ZMPSiŚ. - I will say it again: we will implement this project in accordance with the Act on Sea Ports and Harbors and the government program for the development of external ports, adopted by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. I am only asking for patience and support, because we are talking about a project whose implementation costs are counted in billions.
