Record interest in investments in the port of Szczecin

The investments of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority in the Dębicki Canal and the Kashubian Basin of the Szczecin port were met with record interest from potential contractors, and as a result, the deadline for submitting bids for the ZMPSiŚ project was postponed to June this year.

These are port management tenders for construction works as part of two large investments: "Improving access to the port in Szczecin in the area of the Dębicki Canal" and "Improving access to the port in Szczecin in the Kashubian Basin". Their task is to adapt the infrastructure of the Szczecin port to the current trends on the maritime transport market. Importantly, both are also investments related to the deepening and modernization of the Świnoujście-Szczecin fairway up to 12.5 meters.

And although the deepening of the fairway is the task of the Maritime Office in Szczecin, the role of the port management is to adapt the port quays in Szczecin to the new parameters of the fairway, hence the investments are concentrated in the area of the Dębicki Canal and the Kashubian Basin. In the first of them, it is necessary to modernize the Czeskie, Słowacki and Finnish quays to a depth of 12.5 m, build a new Norwegian quay, and in the future, possibly the Danish quay, which will close this part of the canal. This is where the handling of general cargo, including containers, will be concentrated. In turn, in the Kaszubski Basin, among others, the new Dąbrowieckie quay, and the Katowice and Chorzowskie quays, for example, will be modernized. Both investments are co-financed by the EU from the OPI & E funds.

The Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority is certainly the undisputed investment leader in the region. From the moment we are in the EU, thanks to EU support until the end of 2021, the amount of investments made by the Company in the Szczecin-Świnoujście port complex will exceed PLN 2 billion.
