The contract is signed, there will be a new fire vessel in the Szczecin-Świnoujście port complex

Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority and Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. based in Gdańsk signed a contract for the purchase of a fire vessel. Offer of Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. was selected in a tender procedure. The new unit will be the third in the ZMPSiŚ fleet and will be called "Strażak-28".

The contract was signed by: on the part of ZMPSiŚ SA: Krzysztof Urbaś - president of the board and Kazimierz Drzazga - vice president for infrastructure. On behalf of Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A .: Marcin Ryngwelski - President of the Management Board and Dariusz Jaguszewski - Member of the Management Board.

The project "Purchase of a fire vessel for the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority" received funding from EU funds under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program 2014-2020, Priority axis III Development of the TEN-T road network and multimodal transport, Measure 3.2 Development of maritime transport, inland waterways and multimodal connections. The EU co-financing amounts to 85% of eligible costs, i.e. approx. PLN 35 million, with the contract value of PLN 40.5 million.

Currently, the "Strażak-26" is based in Świnoujście, which in the first place assists the methane carriers delivering liquefied natural gas to the LNG terminal. President Lech Kaczyński. At that time, ZMPSiŚ has at its disposal "Strażak-24" with a base in Szczecin.

The activities of ZMPSiŚ SA, the aim of which is to increase the level of security in both ports, go hand in hand with the constant development and improvement of the quality of ship and cargo handling in the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście. Hence the decision to purchase a new fire vessel for the purpose of carrying out fire protection tasks during reloading, transport of hazardous materials by tankers carrying gases and flammable liquids, requiring assistance from a fire unit and tasks related to rescue and safety at the port of Szczecin and Świnoujście.

Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority carries out a wide range of investments and has been one of the largest investors in the region for many years. At the same time, it effectively reaches for EU funds. In the period from 2004 to the present, covering three EU perspectives, the Company will implement investments for the amount of nearly two and a half billion zlotys.
