Construction of the Berthing Infrastructure in the external port in Swinoujscie


Under the European Energy Programme for Recovery, Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority is an investor of the project for the Construction of the Berthing Infrastructure in the external port in Swinoujscie. This is one of the four component projects of the biggest energy investment the history of Poland - the construction of an LNG terminal in Swinoujscie. The main objective of this strategic investment is to increase energy security and economic development of the country, thanks to the diversification of gas supplies to Poland.



The aim of the project implemented by the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority is to create appropriate conditions for the operation of LNG units, their safe berthing, unloading and transfer of LNG to the onshore part of the terminal.


At the berth will be handled units with a maximum length of 315 m, a width of 50 m, allowable draught of 12.5 m and a capacity of 120 to 216 thousand m³.
 

The scope of investments includes: vessel station, wharf, technology platform, dredging works

The investment in figures

Implementation of investment: 2010 - 2014

External Port Area: 130 ha

Supported Ships:  max length 315 m, draught 12.5 m, capacity 216.000 m3

New eastern breakwater: 2 990 m long

Groyne of the existing eastern breakwater: 250 m long

Cargo handling capacity of the terminal: 5 billion m3 per year, in the future: 7.5 billion m3.

The output volume from dredging works: 2 440 000 m3.

Construction of the LNG terminal in the external port in Swinoujscie will change not only the economic reality of our region and country, but also of Europe. Besides the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority - responsible for the construction of the berth in the external port in Swinoujscie – entities that took part in the construction of an LNG terminal include: the Maritime Office in Szczecin - construction of the breakwater shielding in the external port in Swinoujscie, Polskie LNG SA - construction of an LNG terminal onshore, and OPG Gaz System SA - construction of the gas transmission system and coordination of the implementation of the investment process.
