The ports increase their cargo handling

The first half of the year was very good for the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście. In the first six months of 2010, cargo handling at berths of  ZMPSiS S.A. increased as much as 36.6% to reach 9,959.8 thousand tonnes in comparison with a corresponding period of 2009 (in first half of 2009 cargo handling was 7,292.4 thousand tonnes).

m/v Alexander von Humboldt opened the season of sea-going cruise ships in Szczecin

On 11th May 2010, m /v Alexander von Humboldt started the season of sea-going cruise ships in Szczecin. The ship, registered in the Bahamas by a British owner, is now chartered by Phoenix Reisen, a renowned German operator.

On 10th May 2010, upon the invitation of Jarosław Siergiej, Chairman of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, a delegation of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, headed by Sebastian Schroeder, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Transport, Building and City Development M-VP, visited the Szczecin Seaport.

Considerable increase in cargo handling in Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports

Seaports of Szczecin and Swinoujscie enjoy an increase in cargo handling. According to preliminary estimates in April this year, both ports handled 1,520.9 thousand tonnes of cargo, which translates to 79.6% increase in relation to the corresponding period of last year when cargo handling reached 847 thousand tonnes.

The Port has started building the LNG facility

On 30th April this year, at the premises of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, a contract was signed between the Ports Authority and a consortium of companies based in Szczecin. The consortium comprises EKO-INWEST and PROMIS, and was established to provide the service of a contract engineer following rules of FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) for the project of ‘Building a berth in the external port of Świnoujście’. The value of the contract is PLN 2.989 thou (gross).
