Today (23.12.2013), in the Centre for EU Transport Projects, Warsaw, the Board of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, represented by Krzysztof Sadowski, acting chairman of board, and Paweł Adamarek, board member, signed a project grant agreement for ‘Building infrastructure of port terminals in Szczecin and Świnoujście – parking facilities’. The investment will be funded by the EU from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment. Estimated total cost of the investment is PLN60.3 million, whereas the EU provides PLN51 million. The project contributes to boosting the attractiveness of the Szczecin-Świnoujście Seaport and enhancing competitiveness in terms of road transport servicing. The project is the sixth one already promoted in the Szczecin-Świnoujście Seaport by the Ports Authority and funded from the budget of the European Union.

On 1st November, the largest gross tonnage vessel ever called at the port of Szczecin. The ship originating from San Lorenzo, Argentina, called at the port of Szczecin on her voyage from Riga where she delivered about 50 thousand tonnes of cargo.

On 5th October 2013, ships of maximum draught exceeding permissible standard for the Szczecin seaport moored once again at the Katowickie Quay, where cargo is handled by Bulk Cargo-Port Szczecin sp. z o.o.

Until 2015, a feasibility study is expected to be developed for the investment project of 'Improving rail access to seaports of Szczecin and Świnoujście – PREPARATION'. It should open the way for building and rebuilding of the rail infrastructure improving access to the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście in 2014-2020. It is important since the rail infrastructure is a part of the TEN-T network.

On 26th September this year, several days before the contractual completion date, a new railway track was finished at the Portowców Quay in Świnoujście. The new track will be used by cranes handling grain and fodder. Even for a specialist company it was a challenge to provide turn-key rebuilding and at the same time it was unprecedented refurbishment of the 234.20 m crane track.

On 1st October 2013, a cruise on board of a river passenger ship was held together with a debate on Oder routes leading to the Baltic Sea. The meeting was organized by several entities, including the National Chamber of Maritime Economy, Szczecin Seaport Stakeholder Council, Short Sea Shipping Promotion Office and the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority.

The organization operates under the patronage of Rail Cargo Austria, a national rail transport company of Austria.

On 30th September 2013, the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority hosted a meeting to inform all port stakeholders about: PORT INVESTMENT – PLANS AND CURRENT STATUS. The meeting discussed advancement of investment in the 2007-2013 EU budget period and plans for EU 2014-2020.
