Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority implements environmental policy for the protection of the Baltic Sea Area from pollution from vessels and land-based sources, according to the Helsinki Convention, and the recommendations of the Helsinki Commission and the International Convention MARPOL.


The activity of Ports Authority is conducted in accordance and based on national and EU environmental regulations and in accordance with licenses in the field of environmental protection.


Ports Authority, as manager of the ports of Szczecin and Swinoujscie and by taking into consideration care for the environment of managed ports, in 2011 has implemented an environmental management system ISO 14001:2004 that includes the reduction of the environmental impact of waste, air emissions, water emissions and noise emissions. For this purpose, the Ports Authority monitors the environment in terms of testing the quality of wastewater disposed into port waters, testing of water quality in the port basins and noise measurements. In addition, in 2004 the Ports Authority implemented the system of waste collection from ships and this system is continuously improved.


In order to protect the land and port areas, which are the part of the port infrastructure, Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority has established a system for immediate respons to threats.
