Port of Szczecin-Świnoujście - we are looking at port investments - as at the end of 2022
The Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority is one of the investment leaders in the region. Investments worth more than PLN 2 billion are currently underway in the ports. All this is to maintain the constant development of ports, create conditions and opportunities to handle more cargo than at present.
After the investment is completed, the port in Szczecin will gain new and modernized quays in the area of the Kaszubski Basin and the Dębicki Canal, parameters adapted to handle larger vessels that will call at the port of Szczecin, after the Świnoujście-Szczecin fairway has been modernized to a depth of 12.5 m.
The ferry terminal in Świnoujście will be adapted to handle intermodal transport. The LNG terminal is being expanded by building an additional unloading and loading berth to handle smaller LNG units: gas carriers, bunker vessels and feeder units.
In turn, thanks to investments related to the construction of new and modernization of the existing technical infrastructure, both ports will be more environmentally friendly. The access infrastructure is also systematically improving, including roads and railways connecting the ports with the hinterland. A project that will positively affect the economy of the country and the region and will complement the offer of both ports will certainly be the Deepwater Container Terminal in Świnoujście.
Expansion of the LNG terminal
The main elements of the infrastructure that will be built as part of the implementation of the "Nabrzeże" project, within the contractual scope defined by the Port Authority, include: a loading platform with dimensions of approximately 64x44 m with all necessary devices and equipment, mooring dolphins and fender dolphins equipped with sets of QRH mooring hooks - Quick Release Hooks, communication platforms between dolphins, fender system - SCN fenders - conical (Super Cone Fenders), mooring bollards placed on the loading platform and on some fender dolphins, Integrated Maritime Navigation Safety System (Pilotage, Navigation and Docking System) and a pipeline flyover with a length of about 250 m, set on piles topped with reinforced concrete beams, on which a steel supporting structure will be placed under the reinforced concrete channel of technological pipelines. The pipeline trestle will connect the loading platform to the onshore pipeline trestle. As part of the "Nabrzeże" project, the construction of ongoing dredging works including deepening the basin to a technical depth of 14.5 m.
Dredging works related to the extension and deepening of the existing turntable in the Outer Port in Świnoujście were completed, piling works - a total of 288 pieces of steel piles were driven, works related to concreting pile heads, works related to the production of prefabricated elements of the access, technological and transhipment flyover, assembly of prefabricated elements on the above facilities.
Works related to the concreting of individual ranges, i.e. mooring dolphins and mooring and fender dolphins, the access platform slab and the loading platform slab, have also been completed. The installation of quick-release hooks and the fender system has also been completed.
Reinforcement works related to the structure of the drip tank and the LNG leak discharge channel are coming to an end.
In the first half of 2023, it is planned to complete works related to the installation of sanitary equipment, power and telecommunication networks, as well as the Integrated Maritime Navigational Safety System (PNDS system). The planned date of completion of the investment is the second half of 2023. The current progress is 90%.
Adaptation of the Ferry Terminal in Świnoujście to handle intermodal transport
Reinforced concrete works on the wharf and equipment works on the flyover are in progress. Foundation structure, connection of quay no. 5 with quay no. 6 - completed. Handling square between Duńska and Dworcowa Streets - completed, square between Dworcowa Street and a bundle of railway tracks - completed. Square between a bundle of railway tracks and the quay line - 84% progress. Layout of railway tracks completed, overpass on railway tracks completed in 95%. The steel structure of the loading ramp was made and installed in the bed - 98% progress. Intermodal system 75 percent. The culmination of the works will be the installation of a new passenger bridge, which is currently being built in Spain - 98% progress. Overall, the material progress of the investment is approximately 94%. Completion of works is October 2023.
Port of Szczecin - Kashubian Basin
Material execution of the project 63 percent.
Works are carried out on several work fronts at the same time.
The most advanced works are on the Dąbrowiecki and Gliwickie-Uskok, where works were carried out on both quays in 90 percent.
The Notecki Basin has been completely closed - reinforcement and concrete works related to the slab structure of the quay and sanitary works related to the construction of a rainwater pumping station are in progress.
At the Chorzowskie and Chorzowskie-Uskok quays, pile driving, piling and reinforcement works are underway, the completion of works on these two quays is planned for the fourth quarter of 2023.
At the Katowickie Quay, sections 1-6, the piling wall has been submerged, the next stage is backfilling and static layout of the section.
In the meantime, work is underway to strengthen the shores of the islands of Ostrów Mieleński and Mieleńska Łąka, as well as dredging works in the basin. The excavated material is deposited in silting fields located in Ostrów Grabowski and the Notecki Basin, which, after landing, will create a land reserve for the development of port infrastructure in the area of the embankment. closing. Completion of all works is planned for the third quarter of 2024.
Port of Szczecin - Dębicki Canal
Material performance at the level of over 50%. In Ostrów Grabowski, works related to the construction of a reinforced concrete structure of the nab are in progress. Norwegian. The piling works have been completed - the ground anchors and the sheet piling have been made. Also on the Duskie quay, pile driving works are completed and reinforced concrete works have begun. on the purchase Czech, at the first stage, piling works were completed and reinforced concrete works were started. A sludge disposal field is being built in Ostrów Mieleński, and a special bridge has been built to allow cars to move to this area. Dredging works in the Dębicki Canal have started. Completion of works is planned for the second quarter of 2024.
Technical infrastructure
As part of the "Expansion and modernization of technical infrastructure in the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście" investment, medium and low voltage cable lines, telecommunications, water supply, sanitary and rainwater sewage systems are laid. The laying of pre-insulated heating networks in Łasztownia and at ul. Hryniewiecki. The heating substation in the main building at ul. Bytomska 7. The foundation works related to the construction of new transformer stations were commenced. The construction of retention and averaging tanks at the ferry terminal in Świnoujście and the pressure sewage system related to the collection of sewage from ferries is underway.
