Port of Szczecin-Świnoujście - we look at port investments
The Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority is one of the investment leaders in the region. Currently, investments are underway in the ports, the value of which exceeds two billion zlotys. All this to maintain the constant development of ports, create conditions and opportunities to handle more cargo than today.
After the completion of the investment, the port of Szczecin will gain new and modernized quays in the area of the Kashubian Basin and the Dębicki Canal, adapted to the parameters of servicing larger vessels that will call at the port in Szczecin, following the modernization of the Świnoujście-Szczecin fairway to a depth of 12.5 m.
The ferry terminal in Świnoujście will be adapted to handle intermodal transport. The LNG terminal is being expanded by building an additional loading and unloading station to service smaller LNG units: gas carriers, bunkers and feeder units.
In turn, due to investments related to the construction of new and modernization of the existing technical infrastructure, both ports will be more environmentally friendly. The access infrastructure is also systematically improving, including roads and railways connecting the ports with the hinterland. The project that will have a positive impact on the economy of the country and the region and will complement the offer of both ports will certainly be the Deepwater Container Terminal in Świnoujście.
Expansion of the LNG terminal
The main elements of the infrastructure that will be built as part of the implementation of the "Quay" project in the contractual scope specified by the ZMPSiŚ include: QRH - Quick Release Hooks, communication platforms between dolphins, fender system - SCN fenders - conical (Super Cone Fenders), mooring bollards placed on the loading platform and on some fender dolphins, Integrated Maritime Navigation Safety System (Pilotage, Navigation and Docking System) and a pipeline flyover with a length of about 250 m, set on piles topped with reinforced concrete beams, on which a steel supporting structure for a reinforced concrete technological pipeline trough will be erected. The pipeline flyover will connect the loading platform with the onshore pipeline flyover. As part of the "Quay" project, dredging works will also be performed, including the deepening of the basin to a technical depth of 14.5 m.
Dredging works related to the extension and deepening of the existing turntable at the Outer Port in Świnoujście were completed, piling works - a total of 288 pieces of steel piles were driven, works related to concreting the pile heads, works related to the production of prefabricated elements of the access, technological and reloading trestle, the assembly of prefabricated elements on of the above-mentioned facilities, reinforcement works on the access and reloading trestle, as well as reinforcement and concrete works on the technological trestle, which on May 31, 2022 was transferred to the Gaz-System company in order to be able to start the assembly of the technology.
Reinforcement and concrete works on mooring and mooring-fender dolphins are in progress, related to concreting the reloading trestle plate and the access trestle plate as well as works related to the construction of the reservoir for drainage.
By the end of this year. Completion of reinforced concrete works, installation of sanitary equipment, energy and telecommunication networks, as well as a fender and mooring system along with the installation of the Integrated Maritime Navigation Safety System (PNDS system) are planned for the year. Planned completion date for the second half of 2023. The current stage of completion is 78%.
Adaptation of the Ferry Terminal in Świnoujście to handle intermodal transport
Reinforced concrete works on the wharf and outfitting works on the flyover are in progress. Foundation structure, connection of wharf no. 5 with wharf no. 6 - completed. Intermodal system 50% The works will be crowned with the assembly of a new passenger sleeve, which is currently under construction in Spain - 90 percent of the time. Overall, the material advancement of the investment is approximately 76%. The works are to be completed by the end of March 2023.
In both ports, medium and low voltage cable lines, telecommunication networks, water networks, sanitary and rain sewage systems are laid. In the area at ul. Hryniewiecki, the laying of pre-insulated heating networks has been completed. Currently, similar works are underway in the Łasztownia area. At the Ferry Terminal in Świnoujście, the demolition of the old biological and chemical sewage treatment plant has been completed. The work in progress on the construction of retention and averaging reservoirs, which will enable the discharge of sanitary sewage from the ferry terminal area and from ferries to the municipal network, is a major implementation challenge. Investment completion date in the second half of 2023.
Port of Szczecin - the Kashubian Basin
Material execution of the project 50% The most advanced work is on the Nab. Dąbrowiecki, 75 percent, then the Chorzowskie wharf plus Uskok Gliwicki, 40 percent. Works related to the identification and extraction of ferromagnetic materials have been completed. The completion of all works is planned for the third quarter of 2024.

Material performance at the level of 44 percent. In Ostrów Grabowski, works related to the construction of a reinforced concrete structure are in progress. Norwegian. The pile driver works are finished - soil anchors and a sheet piling were made. Also on the Danish Quay, pile-driving works are nearing completion and reinforced concrete works have started. On the Nab. In the first stage of the Czech Republic, pile-driving works were completed and reinforced concrete works commenced. A dump dump field is being built in Ostrów Mieleński, and a special bridge has been built to enable the movement of cars to this area. Dredging works have started in the Dębicki Canal. The works are scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2024.
